Functional Safety 와 SOTIF

간혹 인터넷에 보면 SOTIF를 기능 안전 (Functional Safety)의 한 부분으로 설명하는 글들을 보게될때 마다.. 답답한 느낌이다.

대부분 그런 페이지들은 전문적 지식없이 업체의 광고를 위한 블로그인 경우가 많다. 

Safety : 

freedom from unacceptable risk (IEC 61508)

absence of unreasonable risk (ISO 26262)

Functional Safety :

part of the overall safety relating to the EUC and the EUC control system that depends on the correct functioning of the E/E/PE safety-related systems and other risk reduction measures (IEC 61508)

absence of unreasonable risk due to hazards caused by malfunctioning behaviour of E/E systems (ISO 26262)

기능 안전은 안전이라는 카테고리에서 전기/전자 구성요의 malfunction에 관련된 Risk를 다룬다. ISO 26262의 Functional safety의 정의는 기능안전이 달성된 상태에 대한 설명이고,  IEC 61508의 용어 정의는 기능안전이라는 영역에 대한 설명이다. 

하지만 SOTIF는 Safety Of Intended Functionality이다. 기능안전과 달리 SOTIF는 오작동/고장/결함에 관련된 것을 다루는 것이 아니라.

의도된 설계 자체가 안전을 확보하기에 불충분/부적절한 경우를 다룬다. 

아직 SOTIF의 경우 ISO/PRF PAS 21448 Road vehicles -- Safety of the intended functionality로 제정 중이며 2018년 8월 31일 현재까지 공식 배포되고 있지 않다.
